Survey Instructions

All figures in this survey should be reported as monthly totals of Lifeline calls, chats, and/or texts received by your Crisis Center during the reporting period. Please read these questions carefully before responding to make sure you are entering the correct data.

If your center does not currently collect one of the measures asked on this survey, please respond with “SL”. If your center does currently collect the measure but the monthly value is zero, please answer the question with “0”. Please note that SL stands for “System Limitations”.

Questions are color-coded based on each question’s data priority level. While Crisis Centers are required by their SOW to report data for every relevant question in this survey, the CA988 Network Team also understands that it is impossible for centers to immediately implement the consistent and accurate collection of all posed data points. As such, the data prioritization scale is intended to guide centers in steadily prioritizing the improvement of their data collection practices over time. The end goal of this process is to have all centers reporting consistent and accurate data for every question posed in this survey. The data prioritization levels and colors include:

  • Helpful (Green): “Helpful” data points impart value to programmatic decision-making when submitted consistently, accurately, and in their entirety.
  • Critical. (Yellow): “Critical” data points impart value to programmatic decision-making by illuminating the nuances of help-seekers’ needs and behaviors.
  • Essential (Blue): “Essential” data points form the core of the data team’s reporting for the California 988 Network, significantly informing programmatic decision-making.
  • Required (Orange): “Required” data points must be submitted whenever a data report is submitted. Such data points often consist of nominative data that ensures proper data safeguarding and recordkeeping.
